Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's helicopter made an emergency landing at Sevak airbase in Jalpaiguri due to inclement weather conditions.
The decision was taken to prioritize the safety of the passengers on board. However, during the landing, the Chief Minister sustained injuries to her leg and back.
Although the extent of Mamata Banerjee's injuries is yet to be determined, she received immediate first aid at the airbase. Upon her arrival in Kolkata, further medical examinations and treatment will be administered.
This incident reminds us of the Chief Minister's previous accident during the Nandigram assembly elections in 2021, where she suffered a leg injury. News of the emergency landing quickly reached prominent political figures, including Governor CV Anand Bose, who expressed relief upon learning that Mamata Banerjee was safe and inquired about her well-being.
Sukant Majumdar, President of the West Bengal State BJP, also conveyed his wishes for her speedy recovery. Mamata Banerjee was transported to SSKM Hospital after reaching Bagdogra and boarding a flight to Kolkata. The hospital has made necessary arrangements, with senior officials, including the Health Secretary, present to oversee her examination, including potential scans or X-rays of her legs and waist.
With heightened security measures and a designated green corridor, Mamata Banerjee's transportation from the airport to SSKM Hospital has been meticulously coordinated. Additional police personnel have been deployed to ensure her safety and facilitate her treatment at the hospital.
